Jitka Bonušová

Jitka graduated from the FAMU Film and Musical Arts Academy and from the Dance Conservatoire, both in Prague.
She has been an active dancer for more than 40 years. She was a member of the dance ensemble Beseda,
led by Professor František Bonuš. She was also a member - later a leader - of the Prague Universities Country Dance Ensemble.
Later, with her husband Jasan Bonuš, they founded the dance group and dance school Dvorana, which specialises in teaching folk and country dances.
In addition to Czech folk dances and American country dances, the Dvorana’s repertoire also includes the ballroom dances of the 19th century.
As a dance teacher, Jitka has been regularly invited to lead courses in the United States, Japan, Germany, Denmark, France, and Italy.

Jan (or Bob, as many know him) started his dancing career in 1991 as a member of the Dvorana dance ensemble.
For more then 20 years he has been leading this ensemble and acting as its teacher.
Simultaneously, he also danced in the dance group of Professor František Bonuš and in the years 1996 – 97 in the Brno folk dance ensemble Ondráš.
In addition, Jan currently teaches dance at the private art school Music Art in Prague, and acts as an external lecturer of folk
dancing at the Prague Dance Centre Conservatoire.
Apart from Czech and Moravian folk dance, Jan also teaches clogging (American traditional tap dance), American and Scottish country,
Mexican dances and ballroom dances of the 19th century.
Outside the Czech Republic, Jan has taught dancing in the USA, Japan, Germany and France.
